The committee’s main goals are to educate residents on the proper care and selection of trees. The committee also works to reduce the loss of existing trees through better resident tree care. Besides educating residents, they also work to plant trees where they have been lost to old age or disease.

Children living in Atherton attend K-12 public schools in the Menlo Park City School District. Menlo-Atherton High School is in the Sequoia Union High School District.
