Downtown Mountain View
Castro Street in Mountain View’s downtown corridor provides residents with a fresh downtown feel, with vibrant and hip restaurants, stores and cafes. Castro Street is open to pedestrians and closed to vehicular traffic. The 100 to 300 blocks of Castro Street will be closed to motor vehicles and buses through early 2023. The Mountain View Art and Wine Festival celebrates its 50th Anniversary this fall.

Mountain View boasts strong safety and public education records and is considered one of the best places to live in the Bay Area. Mountain View and Los Altos high schools are consistently ranked in the top 1% of high schools nationally. In the MVLA district, 98 percent of the graduates matriculate to college.
Among many fun facts about Mountain View: the first silicon integrated circuit –IC — was created in Mountain View by Shockley Semiconductor at 391 San Antonio Road in 1956.
