With summer right around the corner, it’s time to start penciling in local South Bay events on the calendar. Redwood City Summer Happenings feature a number of family friendly events and camps for all ages. In addition, there are events for grown ups too.
With music and the arts taking center stage, two terrific events return as part of the Redwood City Summer Happenings. The Redwood City PAL Music Festival takes place on June 18th. In addition, the 16th annual Art on the Square will take place multiple times throughout the summer.
Summer Happenings in Redwood City
If you haven’t started yet, there are a lot of camps to keep the kiddos busy all summer long. After two years of on and off quarantining, we all want them out of the house, active and being social, right? Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services can help you with those goals. Redwood City has a full book of summer camps, but here are some we’re eyeing:
- Basic Hip Hop: Ages 7-13
A high energy, upbeat class with age appropriate Hip Hop typically to Pop, R&B music. This is an aerobic and relaxed atmosphere, where students can enjoy themselves. Finally, no experience is necessary.
- Jujitsu/Karate/Escrima – Beginners/Intermediate: Ages 8-18
A balanced approach to martial arts. Environment is friendly and emphasis is put on how to defend yourself. Likewise — this is a safe and fun way to learn self-defense.
- Cuisines of the World with Chef Steve:Ages 18+
In addition to having a lot of fun, you’ll learn five different cooking techniques and lessons throughout the summer.
